To close out the school year, Burnet Verde Leaders students stepped outside the classroom and into two workplaces helping shape industries across Austin.
Students visited the offices of DLA Piper and SolarWinds, two organizations that sponsor the Verde Leaders program at Burnet Middle School and provide employee volunteer ambassadors who coach and mentor students throughout the school year.
During the field trips, students got a firsthand look at daily life inside each employer, explored different career paths, and connected classroom learning to real-world opportunities.
"SolarWinds is dedicated to creating meaningful impact within our local communities, and when we invest in uplifting students, we invest in the future of our entire community.” Said Erin Piña, 4ATX Lead of Solarwinds. “Our volunteers show up in ways that help the students of Burnet Middle School believe in what’s possible, on and off the field."
“Supporting the Verde Leaders program is one of the most meaningful ways we can invest in Austin’s future. When students see our workplace, meet our people, and imagine themselves in these roles, it expands their sense of what’s possible.” Said Joseph Fore, Managing Partner of DLA Piper’s Austin Office. “We’re proud to stand alongside SolarWinds in helping these young leaders build confidence and discover their potential.”
The visits served as a meaningful end-of-year experience for students, reinforcing the importance of mentorship, exposure, and confidence-building as they continue discovering their interests and future goals.
This year marks the fourth consecutive year that DLA Piper and SolarWinds have supported the Verde Leaders program at Burnet Middle School, continuing a shared commitment to investing in the next generation of leaders in Austin.
