4ATX Foundation is proud to welcome Marc Stein and David C. Smith to its Board of Directors. Their appointments follow the Foundation’s first-ever player addition earlier this year and come at a pivotal moment, as 4ATX embarks on its newly established 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, an ambitious roadmap to create lasting positive change through the power of soccer.
Marc Stein
Marc Stein is a native Texan and seasoned business leader who spent nearly two decades at Dell Technologies, most recently serving as Senior Vice President and Global GM of the Electronics and Gaming business. Together with his wife and children, he lived in Asia, Europe, and the US, where he guided corporate strategy, led M&A integration, and built high-performing teams that expanded Dell’s presence in new markets and delivered lasting business success.
Prior to Dell, Stein worked in private equity with MG Capital and began his career at Bain & Company. Now semi-retired, his firm provides consulting to private equity and venture capital firms, and he personally remains active as a soccer player and channels this lifelong passion for the game into strengthening Austin’s community.
David C. Smith
David C. Smith recently retired after 9 years as CEO of United Way for Greater Austin, where he led the organization through bold transformation and major accomplishments. During his tenure, Smith led mergers, scaled operating budgets sustainably and strengthened community partnerships, culminating in being awarded the 2018 Best CEO title from Austin Business Journal in 2018.
Smith believes that while there are many elements to successful nonprofit leadership, one common thread is bringing diverse parts of the community together to collaboratively find solutions that create real impact.
A Stronger Future for 4ATX
“We are ecstatic to welcome two highly respected Central Texan leaders to our Board of Directors,” said Kaitlin Mauro, 4ATX Executive Director. “David and Marc bring both passion and a wealth of experience scaling and improving nonprofit business systems, which will be vital for 4ATX as we work toward our ambitious 2030 strategic goals.”
