Fabio Hernandez Joins Austin FC as Club's New Goalkeeper Coach

Austin FC announced today the hiring of Fabio Hernandez as the Club’s new First Team Goalkeeper Coach. Hernandez joins the Verde & Black having most recently held the same title at Huntsville City FC in MLS NEXT Pro.

Fernandez spent the last two (2) seasons with Huntsville, helping the team reach the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2025. His time with the organization also included responsibilities as Nashville SC’s Interim Goalkeeper Coach at the end of the 2024 season.

Prior to his time in Huntsville, Hernandez served as Director of Goalkeeping and Assistant Coach at Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in USL League One. His first coaching stint was during the 2021 season at New Amsterdam FC. Hernandez holds a UEFA C coaching license and is fluent in English and Spanish.

For the 2026 MLS season, the Austin FC coaching staff will feature Head Coach Nico Estévez, Assistant Coaches Davy Arnaud, Beto González, and Nico Bosch, Field Analyst Coach Albert Ballesteros, and Goalkeeper Coach Fabio Hernandez.
