Major League Soccer (MLS) announced today the 2025 MLS 22 Under 22 class, with 20-year-old Austin FC midfielder Owen Wolff voted to the list at the No. 4 spot. The MLS 22 Under 22 is an annual list recognizing the league’s best young players, as voted by an expert panel of MLS coaches, general managers, sporting directors, MLS Season Pass Talent, and select media.
Wolff earns a selection to the 22 Under 22 list for the third consecutive year, having been ranked at No. 18 in 2023 and No. 17 in 2024.
This season, Wolff leads Austin FC in goal contributions with 16 across all competitions (five goals, 11 assists) and in key passes with 63 in MLS play. All five (5) of his goals were match-winners, and he needs one (1) more game-winning goal contribution to set a new Club record for the most game-winning goal contributions in a single season. Wolff has been voted to the MLS Team of the Matchday a team-high five (5) times in 2025.
Wolff became Austin FC’s first Homegrown signing in September 2021 at age 16 and was the first Homegrown player to appear in a match for the Verde & Black in the team’s 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on November 3, 2021. Since then, he has totaled 133 appearances in an Austin shirt, ranking sixth-most all-time.
