Austin FC fell 3-0 against Minnesota United on Saturday night at Q2 Stadium.

Austin controlled play through the opening 20 minutes, recording just under 80 percent possession and a handful of shots. But it was Minnesota that opened the scoring when an unfortunate deflection squirmed into the net. The Loons doubled their lead in the 35th minute with a header by Anthony Markanich.

The second half saw the debut of newly acquired midfielder Robert Taylor with 61 minutes on the clock. Although the Verde & Black continued to dominate the ball, they couldn’t find a way through the Minnesota defense, and the visitors added another late on.
