Austin FC Outlook

Austin FC defeated Sporting Kansas City 2-1 last Saturday night, overcoming an early deficit to claim victory in a second consecutive match. Owen Wolff registered a goal an an assist to bring his team-high tally of goal contributions to 14 in all competitions this season, and CJ Fodrey scored his first career MLS goal to win the match in the 82nd minute.

The result saw ATXFC climb up to sixth place in the Western Conference. Nico Estévez’s side is now eight points above the playoff line while still having a game in hand on several teams below them, and is averaging 1.91 points per game since June 1.

Austin now turns their attention to in-state rivals FC Dallas. The two teams last met recently in the month of August, resulting in a 1-1 draw at Q2 Stadium. Wolff also scored in that match, part of a seven-match run in which he has amassed five goals and three assists.

FC Dallas Outlook

FC Dallas drew 1-1 draw away against St. Louis City SC last Saturday night. Reserve goalkeeper Jacob Jackson came on in the 16th minute after Michael Collodi was shown a red card, and tied Dallas’ club-record with 12 saves to help them to a draw as they conceded over 40 total shots playing with 10 men.

Petar Musa scored the equalizer for Dallas in the match, his 14th of the season. FC Dallas is currently sitting below the playoff line at 12th place in the West, needing to make up a four-point gap to ninth-place San Jose. The team has collected 19 points away this year compared to 12 at home.

Dallas averages 41.6% possession, the second-lowest total in the league. That trend played out in their recent meeting with Austin at Q2 Stadium in which the Verde & Black had 65% of the ball. Turning that possession into purposeful attacking chances will be key for ATXFC this Saturday night.
