Austin FC Outlook

Austin FC drew 1-1 with Minnesota United FC last weekend on Saturday night at Allianz Field. Austin’s equalizer came from defender Žan Kolmanič who netted his first career goal for the Club. Jon Gallagher started the counterattack which ended with stellar assists from Osman Bukari and Myrto Uzuni to Kolmanič. Late in the second half, Mikkel Desler played his first minutes since early March after suffering a hamstring injury against Colorado Rapids.

Austin will now turn its attention to Real Salt Lake, the first match between the two this season. The match against RSL is the team’s eighth match out of nine total in what has been a busy May. The last time the two met was back in late September of 2024 at Q2 Stadium, ending in a 2-2 draw.

ATXFC won both of its U.S. Open Cup midweek matches at home this month at home and took a draw from the MLS match it played vs. Atlanta last Wednesday. The VERDE & Black will look to secure three (3) points in their final Wednesday home match of May before hitting the road to visit MLS newcomers San Diego FC this weekend.

Real Salt Lake Outlook

Real Salt Lake is coming off of a 3-2 home defeat against current conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps. RSL also had a first-time scorer with forward Zavier Gozo recording opening his account with the club. Although RSL went ahead 2-0 within the first five minutes of the match, Vancouver equalized before halftime and eventually netted a late winner in the 90th minute of the match.

RSL are in 12th place in the Western Conference with a record of 4-9-2. Real Salt Lake has two wins over its last nine matches, one away and one at home, though it does own impressive away victories over Houston and San Diego in 2025.

Diego Luna has been the team's bright spot with eight goals and three assists in 14 appearances. He and the rest of the RSL attack will look to get past Brad Stuver in the Austin net who is tied for third in MLS clean sheets thus far this season.
