Austin FC Outlook

Austin FC is coming off a 2-0 loss against Seattle Sounders last weekend, but despite the defeat, the Verde & Black still collected six of a possible nine points available to them in June.

Austin is currently sitting in 9th place in the MLS Western Conference standings, just above the playoff line. The VERDE & Black now turn their attention to LAFC this Saturday night at Q2 Stadium. The last time the two met was earlier this season, a meeting which resulted in Austin’s first road win of the season. Guilherme Biro scored the only goal of a close contest at BMO Stadium in the 11th minute.

Austin FC will look to bounce back from the result in Seattle and return to winning ways ahead of an important U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal showdown against San Jose Earthquakes next Tuesday night.

LAFC Outlook

LAFC suffered a 1-0 home loss against Vancouver Whitecaps last Saturday night off the heels of the team’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup. Saturday’s loss ended the club’s nine-game unbeaten streak in MLS play and marked just the third time that LAFC has been shutout this season – one of which was in the earlier meeting with Austin.

LAFC finds itself in 7th place in the MLS Western Conference with an overall record of 7-5-5. LAFC has won only once away so far in 2025, beating Sporting Kansas City.

Denis Bouanga has been a driving force for LAFC, leading the team with 13 goals and adding six assists as well across all competitions. Those performances earned him an MLS All-Star selection for the third consecutive season. It will be up to Austin FC’s defense to keep Bouanga at bay to prevent the visitors from securing points in Austin.
