Austin FC Outlook

Austin FC comes off a 2-2 draw against its other Texan rival Houston Dynamo FC last Saturday night. The eventful match saw goals from Guilherme Biro and Austin FC captain Ilie Sánchez, his second of the season for the VERDE & Black in all competitions (both of which came in home games against Houston).

Austin now prepares to host FC Dallas as the team looks to solidify its playoff credentials by increasing the points gap between themselves and 10th place. Saturday’s contest marks the first matchup between the two clubs this season. The VERDE & Black claimed victories against Dallas at Q2 Stadium in each of the last two seasons, winning 2-1 in 2024 and 3-0 in 2023.

Austin remains undefeated in their last five matches, looking to extend the streak into this weekend before hitting the road to visit Canadian side CF Montréal next week.

FC Dallas Outlook

Dallas is coming off a 2-0 win over Portland Timbers, moving them up to 11th place in the Western Conference standings. Petar Musa and Lalas Abubakar got the goals to spur the team to victory in its first match following the outgoing transfer of Luciano Acosta.

Musa has been a pivotal member of the team, netting 13 goals so far this season. Perhaps more importantly, he enters Saturday in red-hot form with six goals in his last four games.

Interestingly, Dallas has picked up more points on its travels than at home this season, collecting 17 away from home and just 11 at Toyota Stadium. Dallas prefers to play without the ball, averaging 42.5 percent possession which is the second-lowest in MLS. Austin will have to be wary of Dallas looking to absorb pressure and then looking to find Musa on the counterattack.
