Austin FC will be back at home this Wednesday night for the team’s seventh home match of the season. The VERDE & Black will take on Atlanta United FC at 8:00 p.m. CT at Q2 Stadium.

Austin FC Outlook

Austin FC fell 2-1 over the weekend against FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium. Cincinnati claimed the narrow win thanks to a goal and an assist by Evander, despite a penalty converted by Brandon Vazquez.

The VERDE & Black now turn their attention to a pivotal midweek matchup against Atlanta United. The only previous meeting between the two clubs happened at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2022, with Austin winning 3-0. Since the start of the 2022 season, ATXFC has a record of 3-1-4 at home against Eastern Conference teams.

The Atlanta match is the first of three home matches in eight days for Austin, two in the league and one in the U.S. Open Cup. The VERDE & Black will look to kickstart that homestand with an important three points which could help them climb as high as fifth place in the Western Conference ahead of this weekend’s tilt with Vancouver.

Atlanta United FC Outlook

Atlanta United FC currently sits in fourteenth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 2-6-4. Atlanta has not been victorious since the end of March when they earned a 4-3 home win against New York City FC.

Atlanta is coming off a 2-1 loss away against Chicago Fire, Saturday night. Similar to Austin, Atlanta went down 1-0 early on in the first half after the home side converted a penalty. They equalized in the final 10 minutes of the match following an own goal by Chicago defender Sam Rogers, but shortly after Rominigue Kouamé netted the winner for Chicago.

Despite its record, Atlanta has a several dangerous attackers, including Miguel Almiron and Emmanuel Latte Lath, who arrived in the offseason as the league’s record incoming transfer
