Leagues Cup Announces Details For 2024 Group Stage Schedule

Leagues Cup today announced the dates, kickoff times, and locations for group stage matches in the tournament’s 2024 edition. The Leagues Cup will kick off Friday, July 26 with the tournament final on Sunday, August 25, 2024. In January, Austin was drawn in the West 1 Group alongside Liga MX clubs CF Monterrey and Pumas UNAM. All three (3) of the group’s matches will take place at Q2 Stadium.

The Verde & Black will face Pumas UNAM on Friday, July 26 at 8 p.m. CT and CF Monterrey on Tuesday, July 30 at 8:00 p.m. CT, with CF Monterrey and Pumas UNAM facing off in an all-Liga MX matchup on Saturday, August 3 at 9:00 p.m. CT.

The Leagues Cup Round of 32 will then be played from August 7-9, followed by the Round of 16 from August 12-13. The eight (8) advancing teams will compete in the Leagues Cup Quarterfinals on August 16-17 before the two (2) semifinal matches on August 20 or 21.

All Leagues Cup matches will be available to watch via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

Austin FC Season Ticket Members have both Austin FC group stage matches included in their memberships. Season Ticket Members will also have access to a pre-sale for Monterrey vs. Pumas beginning at 10 a.m. CT on Friday, March 15.

Oak Collective Waitlist Members, or those who join the waitlist by 1 p.m. CT on March 15, will have access to a pre-sale for all three (3) group stage games starting at 2 p.m. CT on the same day. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. CT on Tuesday, March 19 at www.austinfc.com and www.q2stadium.com.

More About Leagues Cup

Leagues Cup 2024 will once again feature all 29 MLS and 18 Liga MX clubs. Both leagues will pause their respective seasons for the month-long event played across the U.S. and Canada.

The champion, as well as the second and third place finishers, will qualify for the Concacaf Champions Cup and the opportunity to earn a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup.

The second edition of the Leagues Cup features 15 groups consisting of three (3) teams. Teams in each group will play each other once at the home venue of the group’s seeded MLS team, with the top two (2) teams from each group advancing to the knockout rounds. Liga MX champions Club América and MLS champions Columbus Crew receive byes directly to the knockout rounds.

Matches cannot end in a tie with League Cup’s unique format. In the event a group stage match is tied at the end of 90 minutes, both teams receive one (1) point. The winner of the ensuing penalty shootout receives an additional point.
