Austin FC Kicks Off Leagues Cup with Win Over Club Tijuana

Austin FC defeated Club Tijuana 2-0 on Thursday night at Q2 Stadium with goals in the first half by Joseph Rosales and Jon Gallagher. The victory marks the Verde & Black’s third consecutive win against Liga MX opposition.

16 minutes into the match, Myrto Uzuni picked out Rosales with a ball over the top of the defense. Rosales’ shot beat José Antonio Rodríguez in the Tijuana net to give Austin an early lead.

Gallagher then doubled that lead moments before halftime with a strike to the bottom corner, after Brad Stuver had made multiple big saves to preserve the advantage.

Tijuana were reduced to 10 men in the 69th minute, and ATXFC saw out the clean sheet to collect three (3) points.
