Austin FC drew 1-1 with Atlanta United FC on Wednesday night at Q2 Stadium. Brandon Vazquez continued his hot streak in front of goal, scoring for the fourth time in the team’s last three (3) matches.
Brad Stuver made the key play of a combative first half. Facing Atlanta’s Miguel Almirón one-on-one in the 8th minute, Stuver stood tall and stopped Almirón’s shot to keep the match scoreless.
On the other side of halftime, Vazquez opened the scoring with a quality free kick, shooting to the top right corner from the center of the field about 25 yards from goal. But Atlanta would go on to tie the game in stoppage time through Jamal Thiaré to ensure each team took home one (1) point.
