Austin FC won 4-2 against D.C. United Saturday night in the nation’s capital, getting goals from Myrto Uzuni, Owen Wolff, Osman Bukari, and Robert Taylor. Uzuni and Wolff have now scored in back-to-back matches. The victory moves Austin up into seventh place in the MLS Western Conference and improves the team’s record to 4-1-1 in its last six (6) league matches.
Austin broke through in the 22nd minute when a brilliant pass from Brendan Hines-Ike split the D.C. defense to find Uzuni. Some excellent wing play from Bukari and Mikkel Desler then led to a terrific header by Wolff, who skied over his defender to finish the chance just before halftime.
D.C. responded early in the second half with a goal by João Peglow but Bukari restored the two-goal cushion 12 minutes later. The goal was a fluid team move from back to front, starting with a quality pass out of pressure by Brad Stuver and ending with Dani Pereira setting up Bukari for a close-range strike.
In stoppage time, Taylor joined the party for Austin’s fourth goal of the night with Nico Dubersarsky recording his first career MLS assist, ensuring a late D.C. penalty was nothing more than a consolation.
