Austin FC Academy player Ervin Torres has been called up to the U-16 United States Men’s Youth National Team for the upcoming U-16 Football Federations Cup, taking place from November 16-28 in Alicante, Spain. The call-up is Torres’ fifth to a youth national team in 2022, following three (3) prior call-ups to the U.S. U-16 and U-15 Men’s Youth National Teams and one (1) prior call-up to the Mexican U-16 Men’s Youth National Team.

“We’re very proud of Ervin for earning yet another youth national team call-up,” said Austin FC Academy General Manager Tyson Wahl. “He continues to show a tremendous work ethic and attitude both on the field and in the classroom each day, and we know that the international competition in Spain will provide a positive challenge.”

The U.S. will play Spain in its opening match on Wednesday, November 23 and play two placement games on Friday, November 25 and Sunday, November 27. The tournament field also includes Belgium, England, Japan, Germany, Mexico and Wales.

At the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs in July, Torres registered multiple impressive performances for the Austin FC U-15 team, including scoring a goal in the Round of 16 against Los Angeles FC. Torres is 1 of 7 players from the Austin FC organization to earn a youth national team call-up in 2022, alongside Owen Wolff (U.S. U-19), Bryan Arellano (U.S. U-19), Anthony Gonzalez (U.S. U-19), Micah Burton (U.S. U-17), Abner Zuniga (U.S. U-15), and Gavin Wolff (U.S. U-15).
