Anyone who’s been to a match at Q2 Stadium knows the venue as an amazing place to watch soccer, and in addition to cheering on the Austin FC First Team in MLS action against FC Dallas on Saturday night, fans had to the chance to watch the two clubs’ Special Olympics Unified Teams.

The teams played out a six-goal thriller, with members of Austin FC supporters groups and MLS players from both Austin and Dallas watching on. It was the Austin FC Unified Team’s first match together, after signing day festivities and a training session at St. David’s Performance Center on April 24.

“Playing a match at Q2 Stadium was a unique and amazing experience for the Austin and Dallas Unified Teams,” said Austin FC VP of Community Impact Kaitlin Mauro. “The fans and players watching on created a great atmosphere for the players on the field, who played an incredible game. We’d like to congratulate all our Unified Team athletes on a successful first match!”
