Austin FC Outlook

Interim Head Coach Davy Arnaud will take charge of the Verde & Black for the team’s final match before the break. Arnaud, who has been with Austin FC since the Club’s inception, also served in the interim head coach role for the final match of the 2024 season, which ATXFC won 3-2 over Colorado.

The Verde & Black will now travel to St. Louis aiming to finish the first part of the season on a high note, and to leave themselves in the best possible position for a run toward the playoff places once play resumes in mid-July. The two sides met earlier this month at Q2 Stadium when Christan Ramirez and Myrto Uzuni scored in a 2-0 Austin victory.

Uzuni was also on the scoresheet in this fixture last season, netting the only goal of a 1-0 away win.

St. Louis City SC Outlook

St. Louis City SC is coming off U.S. Open Cup midweek action, in which the team defeated Houston Dynamo on penalties to advance to the semifinals. In MLS play, St. Louis drew 1-1 away against D.C. United last time out. Conrad Wallem picked up a red card in that match and will miss the meeting with Austin.

St. Louis currently sits one spot below Austin in 14th place in the MLS Western Conference. Since their defeat to the Verde & Black earlier this month, they have found a nice patch of form, recording victories over Colorado on the road and LAFC at home prior to the results against D.C. and Houston.

Midfielder Eduard Löwen continues to be an essential asset for St. Louis, marking down 41 goal contributions in 64 MLS regular season matches. His German compatriot Marcel Hartel has also impressed and scored twice in Tuesday night’s Open Cup success. It’ll be up to Austin to keep that duo quiet.
