Austin FC Outlook
Austin’s victory against Sporting Kansas City kept its postseason hopes alive thanks to Myrto Uzuni’s brace, erasing a second-half deficit last Saturday night. Uzuni’s two goals earned him a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday for the third time this season and brought his goal contribution tally to 20 in all competitions.
The Verde & Black once again face a must-win scenario against RSL as the team now knows it must collect all nine points still available across its final three regular season matches to have a chance to reach the playoffs. The two teams met earlier in the season away at America First Field, leading to a 2-1 defeat for ATXFC with Jon Bell scoring the lone Austin goal.
Austin fans will have fond memories of previous October home matches against Salt Lake, with the Club’s first-ever playoff win coming back in October 2022 in a penalty shootout over RSL.
Real Salt Lake Outlook
RSL currently sits just two points below the playoff line, closely trailing LA Galaxy. Salt Lake comes to Austin following a crucial 3-0 crucial victory St. Louis last time out. Like Uzuni, Sergi Solans netted a brace and Dominik Marczuk added another to help RSL to a massive three points at home.
With Saturday’s brace, Solans has now scored 14 MLS goals in 2026, putting the 23-year-old Spaniard just three goals away from Cyle Larin’s MLS rookie record. Morgan Guilavogui is another key attacking piece with four goals and 10 assists.
After going through a difficult 13 match winless run, Salt Lake has salvaged its playoff chances with a record of 3-1-1 in its last five matches. Although they aren't yet facing elimination, every point is vital as a win on Wednesday would lift them into the top nine in the standings.
