To qualify for MLS NEXT Cup, Austin FC Academy teams had to come through MLS NEXT Flex, a competition where MLS academies often compete against older age groups as part of their development pathway.Â
The U-19s finished top of their group, earning qualification after three results: a 1-0 win over Sockers FC Chicago, a 5-0 win against Southern Soccer Academy, and a 1-0 win over CF Montréal.
The U-17s also clinched their group, going unbeaten through MLS NEXT Flex. They opened with a 4-2 win over Albion SC, followed by a 2-1 win against Metropolitan Oval Academy, and closed group play with a 1-1 draw against Columbus Crew, advancing after a 5-3 win on penalties.
With both teams securing their spots, Austin FC Academy will head to Salt Lake City, Utah for MLS NEXT Cup, set for May 23-31, 2026.
