Austin FC is set to host the Club’s inaugural Evergreen Match on Saturday, April 25 at Q2 Stadium (7:30 p.m. CT | TICKETS). The match will celebrate Earth Day and sustainability, as well as year-round community efforts to protect our home in true VERDE fashion.
Austin FC players will wear kits adorned with Evergreen patches, and local sustainability-focused nonprofits will be recognized during the match. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a plantable seed pack, courtesy of Austin FC’s Official Waste & Recycling Partner Texas Disposal Systems (TDS).
Through its collaboration with TDS, Austin FC consistently diverts over 90 percent of waste generated on matchdays from reaching landfills. That commitment to being a zero-waste venue led to Q2 Stadium becoming the first and only soccer-specific stadium in the world to earn in February 2026, the highest certification level granted by Green Business Certification Inc.
TDS volunteers will be stationed as “Trash Goalies” around Q2 Stadium on Saturday to help fans properly sort and divert waste.
More About Evergreen
Austin FC and one of the Club’s founding partners YETI have collaborated on Evergreen, a platform amplifying sustainability initiatives, since 2024. Through year-round efforts, Evergreen engages the Austin community in protecting and promoting Austin’s green spaces, which are central to making our city vibrant and full of life.
For Earth Day 2026, Austin FC staff volunteered with The Trail Conservancy to pick up trash and to spread 40 cubic yards of mulch on a portion of the city’s beloved Lady Bird Lake trail loop, adding organic material to the shoreline and preventing erosion. Austin FC staff and volunteers from South Texas also cleaned up a one-mile stretch of beach on South Padre Island.
The Evergreen initiative was recognized by Major League Soccer (MLS) as the winner of the 2024 Mark Abbott MLS Club Award for Sponsorship Activation of the Year.
