Austin FC’s nonprofit arm 4ATX Foundation and IGT today announced that the organizations will host an equipment drive for the third consecutive year. All of the equipment collected will be donated to a local Title I elementary school. Fans can donate gently used or new soccer equipment at two Austin FC matches and at the Verde Store from September 30 through October 7.
"For many low-income families, purchasing soccer equipment can be a costly barrier that prevents kids from accessing the game,” said 4ATX Foundation Executive Director Kaitlin Mauro. “We are grateful to the Austin soccer community for supporting this initiative year after year and coming together to provide resources for young people."
4ATX is accepting new and gently used equipment including shin guards, cleats, soccer balls, soccer bags, goalie gloves, soccer shorts, new socks, and new sports bras.
Donations will be collected at Austin FC home matches on October 4 and 7 at H-E-B Plaza before the match. Fans who donate can enter to win a 2023 Austin FC Home Jersey or a 2023 MLS Match ball signed by the team. All week long, donations can also be made at the Verde Store during regular business hours, and fans can receive 10% off any scarf with proof of donation.
“IGT is proud to partner with 4ATX in their annual equipment drive. This program affords youth the opportunity to experience not only the fun of soccer but the value of being a team player.” said IGT Account Development Manager Joe Lapinski.
During the 2022 equipment drive, fans donated over $12,000 worth of new and lightly used soccer equipment for students at Decker Elementary School.
