On Friday, September 8, the Austin FC Grounds Team, 4ATX Foundation staff and Tellus Equipment Solution staff lined and painted fields, assembled benches, repainted goalposts, and picked up trash ahead of East Austin Soccer Club’s upcoming season. Austin FC players Brad Stuver and Damian Las also joined the efforts.
During the latest winter storms of 2023, the field sign of East Austin Soccer Club was destroyed. Together, Austin FC, the Club’s nonprofit arm 4ATX Foundation, and partner Tellus Equipment Solutions donated a new sign and provided support to the fields for another year through mowing, line painting and equipment donations. Tellus also provided landscaping equipment to manicure the pitch.
“It’s so important that we help maintain and beautify spaces where our community comes together to have fun and stay active,” said Kaitlin Mauro, Executive Director of 4ATX Foundation., “Together, along with Tellus, we are investing in these fields so kids can play on them for years to come.”
The Tillery Fields are home to East Austin Soccer Club, and they went viral after a story broke that local resident Ismael Guzmán was maintaining the fields using his own finances and equipment for the past decade. In 2022, Austin FC and Tellus came together to support the field after learning about the efforts of Mr. Guzman.
“We’re grateful to have support to upkeep our field. My dad has been maintaining this field for years out of the kindness in his heart and passion for youth soccer in our community. It’s important to keep this space available for our community to come together and play soccer.” Said Josefina Guzman-Hall, daughter of Mr. Guzman.
“We’re very excited to have the opportunity to once again work with Austin FC to get the East Austin Soccer Club in tip top shape for the upcoming season," said Tellus VP of Sales & Marketing Jimmy Marks. "It’s a lot of fun planning ahead of the event and very fulfilling to see the results after the team effort!”
