As part of their shared goal to remove barriers and get more people playing soccer, Austin FC’s nonprofit arm 4ATX Foundation and the Club’s founding partner Netspend made their first Verde Nets donation of 2023 to Widen Elementary School, which also included a new set of portable soccer goals. On Tuesday, February 28, 4ATX Foundation and Netspend volunteers came together and helped hang the brand-new soccer nets at the Widen Elementary field.

“We are immensely happy to be able to make our first Verde Nets donation of 2023 and grateful to Netspend for partnering with us and making this possible,” said 4ATX Foundation Executive Director Kaitlin Mauro.

In the fall of 2022, 4ATX hosted a free soccer clinic at Widen Elementary as part of the 2022 Clinics 4ATX Series, presented by St. David’s HealthCare. As part of the organizations’ promise to turn Austin “Verde” they hope to continue refurbishing underserved fields throughout 2023. Netspend and 4ATX have now donated 140 nets to schools and programs in need across the greater Austin area.

“Netspend was honored to help install new Verde soccer nets at Widen Elementary in Austin as part of our commitment to supporting our community and schools in partnership with the Austin FC and 4ATX Foundation," said Netspend President Kelley C. Knutson. “We believe all students deserve access to safe spaces to play sports and exercise, and we are dedicated to making a positive impact in the community by supporting our youth through the Verde Nets program.”

Schools and community organizations who would like to be considered for future Verde Net donations can do so by completing 4ATX Foundation’s community needs form here.
