Austin FC Player Legend of the Year: Diego Rubio
Hailing from Santiago, Chile, Diego Rubio’s career has taken him across the globe. Wherever soccer has led him, he has embraced a responsibility to giveback to the communities that welcome him, a value instilled by his father, Hugo. Since arriving in Austin, that ethos has continued to carry Diego’s impact beyond the pitch. Over the past two years, he has been a consistent presence in 4ATX programs and Austin FC Community Impact initiatives, sharing his time, perspective, and experiences with the next generation of soccer players and community leaders. His commitment to leaving every place better than he found it continues to shape both Club and Community.

Leyendita of the Year: Alexa Arenas Mejia
A 7th grader at Webb Middle School, Alexa is in her second year with Verde Leaders. An Austin native, she carries on her parents’ love of soccer, rooted in their childhoods in Mexico. She represents the growing number of girls in the program and has already emerged as a standout — confident, resilient, and determined on and off the pitch. Those qualities were on full display this summer when Alexa competed as the only girl in the 2025 MLS All-Star Community Cup, helping her team capture the championship title. Guided by her coach and mentor, Gabriela Garcia, Alexa continues to grow and dreams of one day becoming a Verde Leaders coach herself. Off the field, she loves cooking, spending time with family and honing her skills on her neighborhood pitch.
