The MLS SuperDraft 2024 presented by adidas will take place beginning at 2:00 p.m. CT on Tuesday, December 19. Austin FC own the 5th selection of the first round and the 5th selection of the second round (34th overall).
Austin FC selected midfielder Dani Pereira from Virginia Tech with the first overall pick of the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. Pereira has since gone on to make 90 MLS appearances for the Verde & Black during his first three seasons as a professional, recording two (2) goals and 12 assists.
In 2023, Austin FC selected winger CJ Fodrey from San Diego State University with the 13th overall pick. In his first season with the Club, Fodrey contributed to Austin FC II’s title-winning campaign with four (4) goals and two (2) assists in 22 MLS NEXT Pro matches, and earned three MLS appearances with the first team as well.
In advance of the MLS SuperDraft, technical staff from every MLS club attended the adidas MLS College Showcase from Dec. 6-9 in Phoenix, Arizona. The four-day event showcased 44 of the top collegiate prospects in the nation via a series of training sessions, testing, interviews and match play.
HOW TO WATCH
The first round of the MLS SuperDraft 2024 presented by adidas will kick off at 2 p.m. CT on Tuesday, December 19, with SuperDraft Pre-Show coverage streaming live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. The broadcast will feature live look-ins inside club draft headquarters, including Austin FC’s draft HQ at St. David’s Performance Center, and interviews from draftees.
In addition to the live show, all three rounds of draft will be available on the MLS SuperDraft Tracker with updates for each selection available in real time.
