Austin FC brought The Next Eleven to Walnut Creek Elementary on Wednesday, September 16, marking the first school visit under the Club’s newly branded school visit program.Â
Formerly known as Austin ISD en Verde, The Next Eleven continues Austin FC’s commitment to connecting with students at Title I schools across Central Texas and using the power of soccer to encourage development in young people. The program brings the Club directly into local schools through assembly-style visits centered around literacy advocacy and values that are important to each school community.
During the visit, Walnut Creek Elementary’s fifth-grade students connected with Austin FC players Ilie Sánchez and Jorge Alastuey, along with VerdÃsimo, for an afternoon of activities. The visit gave students an opportunity to engage directly with Austin FC while encouraging the importance of learning.
As part of the visit, Austin FC also donated a package of books to Walnut Creek Elementary’s library, continuing the Club’s tradition of supporting literacy at every school visit.
