Svatok Scores Late to Lift Austin FC Past Portland

Oleksandr Svatok’s goal in second half stoppage time earned a dramatic 2-1 win for Austin FC over Portland Timbers on Saturday night at Providence Park. It was the team’s second consecutive away victory.

Facundo Torres opened the scoring in the 25th minute off a sublime assist by Joseph Rosales. It was Torres’ second goal in the team’s last three league games and Rosales’ second assist in the last two.

Portland looked like they would take a point from the match when Antony equalized from the penalty spot in the 89th minute, but Svatok was in the right place at the right time to score the winner moments later.
