Austin FC midfielder Dani Pereira was named to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Week for Week 17, with goalkeeper Brad Stuver named to the Team of the Week bench as Austin defeated Charlotte FC 1-0 on Thursday night to move up to second place in the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings at the midway point of the season.

Pereira scored his second goal of the season in the 62nd-minute against Charlotte, a swerving strike from 25 yards that caromed in off the underside of the crossbar and proved to be the match-winner. In addition to his two (2) goals this season, Pereira has three (3) assists, an 89.8 percent duel percentage, and an 89.2 percent pass completion rate (third-best among MLS midfielders to have played at least 15 matches).

Stuver made two (2) saves as he kept his fifth shutout of the season, tied for seventh-most in MLS. He has 48 saves and a 73.8 save percentage in 15 matches played in 2022.

Pereira earned Team of the Week honors for the first time this season, while Stuver did so for a third time. Both players are eligible for selection to the 2022 MLS All-Star Game, for which fan voting closes at 1:59 a.m. CT on Saturday, July 2 at www.MLSSoccer.com/vote.
