Austin FC announced today that defender Oleksandr Svatok has obtained a Green Card to become a permanent resident of the United States. Svatok – originally from Kamianske, Ukraine – will no longer occupy an international slot on Austin FC’s Major League Soccer (MLS) roster for the 2026 season and beyond.
Austin FC now has two (2) available international slots on its 2026 roster.
Svatok signed with Austin FC in June 2024 and he has since made 40 appearances for the Verde & Black in all competitions. He started 26 MLS regular season matches in 2025 and helped Austin set a new Club record for shutouts in a single season with nine (9).
Svatok has made 11 senior international appearances for Ukraine, including playing in the team’s two (2) most recent FIFA World Cup qualifiers as it secured a place in the European playoffs for one (1) of the remaining berths to this summer’s tournament.
