Verde Lights Set0

Austin FC and The CW Austin (KNVA) today announced a new 30-minute weekly show dedicated exclusively to Austin FC called “Verde Lights.” The show will be produced from the new state-of-the-art KXAN/KNVA studio in downtown Austin, and will be hosted by a rotation of KXAN Sports anchors and reporters, including legendary KXAN sports anchor Roger Wallace alongside Austin FC digital hosts Adrian Healey and Michael Lahoud.

“KXAN is one of the most trusted and widely viewed news sources in all of Central Texas,” said Austin FC President Andy Loughnane. “We’re very pleased to be partnering again to bring dedicated Austin FC coverage to the community on a weekly basis. Verde Lights will provide an in-depth look at Austin FC each week, through knowledgeable voices with whom fans are already familiar.”

At 5 p.m. CT each Saturday, Verde Lights will preview the upcoming match, and explore interesting Club storylines both on and off the pitch. The show will air weekly on KNVA (The CW Austin).

“We couldn’t be more excited to continue our partnership and relationship with Austin FC,” said Vice President and General Manager of KXAN-TV, Eric Lassberg. “It’s a partnership we have really enjoyed because of the great people up and down the organization, and in the end, it just made sense to offer the many avid fans of our community a weekly show that is 100% about Austin FC. No doubt, the fan base is there, and they will enjoy the show.”

Roger Wallace, Adrian Healey, and Michael Lahoud have all covered Austin FC since the Club’s inception. Wallace has been anchoring and covering sports at KXAN since 1995. A multiple Texas Associated Press “Best Sportscast” winner, he has also been named “Best Sportscaster” by The Austin Chronicle.

Healey and Lahoud worked together as Austin FC’s English-language commentators on the KXAN family of networks throughout the Club’s first two (2) seasons and served as hosts for multiple Club-produced content series as well, including the Matchday Minus One Show, Austin FC Twitter Spaces, and the Verde & Black Podcast.

Both bring extensive knowledge of Austin FC, MLS, and American soccer. Healey initially joined Austin FC from ESPN, where he commentated on more MLS matches than any other ESPN commentator in history. In addition to his work with Austin FC, Healey is now part of an exclusive cast of on-air talent calling Major League Soccer games across the country as part of the league’s new groundbreaking partnership with Apple. Lahoud spent a decade as a professional soccer player from 2009 to 2019, including tenures at Philadelphia Union and the Sierra Leone Men’s National Team. Since retiring from professional play, Lahoud has provided expert soccer commentary for MLSSoccer.com, CBS, and ESPN+, amongst others.

The first edition of Verde Lights will air Saturday, February 25 at 5 p.m. CT on The CW Austin.
