Match Report: Austin FC vs. Minnesota United FC | February 24, 2024

02-24 Match Report

Austin FC fell to a 2-1 defeat against Minnesota United FC on Saturday night at Q2 Stadium.

Brad Stuver was excellent in the early stages, making several high-quality saves to deny Minnesota’s attackers. The Loons eventually found a goal through Robin Lod, who finished from close range in the 34th minute.

The Verde & Black came out strong to begin the second half, creating more chances and putting increased pressure on the Minnesota defense. In the 77th minute, two new Austin players nearly combined to create the equalizer when Diego Rubio was inches away from poking home a low cross from Jáder Obrian.

Minnesota added a second goal late on, which meant that despite Guilherme Biro’s debut strike for ATXFC in stoppage time, the Loons left Q2 Stadium with three points.
