Match Report: Austin FC vs. Colorado Rapids | March 25, 2023

Match Report

Jon Gallagher scored an early goal and Brad Stuver made seven (7) saves as Austin FC drew 1-1 against Colorado Rapids Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd at Q2 Stadium.

Austin started quickly, scoring with less than five (5) minutes on the clock. Sebastián Driussi spotted Gallagher making a run and played him in with a perfectly-timed pass. With time and space in the box, Gallagher calmly finished off the move for his third goal of the season.

Stuver then came to the rescue for the Verde & Black, denying Colorado’s Jonathan Lewis from close range with a strong save. Stuver made another good stop before halftime, blocking Keegan Rosenberry’s attempt at the near post.

Colorado continued to pressure Austin’s defense in the second half, but Stuver remained up to the task of keeping the Rapids out. He made two (2) crucial saves in quick succession just after the hour mark, and another on Michael Barrios in a one-on-one situation.

The Rapids eventually found an equalizer, with Barrios setting up Kévin Cabral to level the score late.

Goal-Scoring Summary
