Austin FC Outlook Â
Austin FC is coming off two consecutive home wins after defeating St. Louis City SC 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. Austin applied pressure throughout the match and eventually broke through in the second half, with goals 12 minutes apart from Christian Ramirez and Myrto Uzuni delivering three points.Â
The Verde & Black will now hit the road for the first of two back-to-back road matches, beginning this weekend in the North Star State. ATXFC and MNUFC met back in February for their 2026 MLS season opener at Q2 Stadium, drawing 2-2 to kick off the season. Austin has done well to earn results at Allianz Field in each of its last four visits across all competitions. In addition to last September’s dramatic 2-1 win there in the U.S. Open Cup Semifinal Round, the Verde & Black are 2-1-0 away against the Loons in league play since 2023.Â
In addition to an important win last Sunday, Austin got another major boost with both Brandon Vazquez and Owen Wolff returning from injury for their season debuts. Vazquez made his first appearance since tearing his ACL in July 2025. Dani Pereira also came back from a hamstring issue and picked up the assist for Ramirez’s opening goal vs. St. Louis.Â
Minnesota United FC Outlook Â
Minnesota United FC enters Sunday’s match in good form with five wins in their last six league matches. The Loons came back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Columbus Crew 3-2 away last Saturday. All three goals came in the second half, with Kelvin Yeboah putting on a show by scoring a brace. Yeboah has capably led the team’s attack all season with seven total goals.Â
The Loons currently sit in fifth place in the MLS Western Conference. Minnesota has performed well on the road thus far, picking up 13 points on their travels. They were also undefeated at home until recently, when they fell to LAFC 1-0 in late April.Â
Despite last Saturday’s high-scoring result, the Loons have mostly relied on their defense, securing six wins from 11 matches while scoring only 14 goals. It’ll be up to Austin to capitalize on the momentum of back-to-back shutout wins and extend their positive run of results in Minnesota.
