Austin FC Outlook

Coming off a week in which Austin scored six goals and earned six points across two matches, the Verde & Black enter this Saturday’s match with a point to prove. A 3-0 win against FC Dallas on June 21 and a 3-0 win against Houston Dynamo on June 24, saw Austin FC rise to first in the Copa Tejas standings and move within four points of third place in the MLS Western Conference standings.

ATXFC’s prowess across the pitch showed a reinvigorated side at its best following an 11-day break from MLS action. Brad Stuver and his defensive line recorded two consecutive clean sheets, Ethan Finlay and Gyasi Zardes scored a goal in each match, and the Verde & Black displayed a remarkable attacking outlay that saw goal contributions from eight different players. Julio Cascante, Diego Fagundez, and Stuver were named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 20 following their performances against FC Dallas, while Cascante earned the honors once again for his Matchday 21 performance against Houston Dynamo.

The Miami match is the first in a stretch of three consecutive away games for Austin, followed by trips to play against Minnesota United and Vancouver Whitecaps. The Verde & Black will then play one home match on July 15 against Sporting KC before starting their inaugural Leagues Cup journey on July 21.

A win against Miami would strengthen Austin FC’s position in the standings, potentially lifting the Club as high as fourth place by the end of the week.

Inter Miami CF Outlook

Inter Miami is currently on a seven-game losing streak in MLS, most recently falling 4-1 to the Philadelphia Union on June 24. The club sits in 15th place in the Eastern Conference with 15 points. Despite their overall record, the Herons have had successful stretches this season. Miami won its opening two matches of the season against Montréal and Philadelphia, and recorded a three-game win streak against Columbus, Atlanta, and New England from April 29 to May 13.

The team has contended with a growing injury list and the departure of head coach Phil Neville on June 1. Exciting times are ahead with the anticipated arrivals of Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, as well as the announcement of Tata Martino as Miami's new head coach on June 28 (though he's not expected to be on the sidelines this weekend). The club will see this match at home as an opportunity to start building some positive momentum and climbing the standings.

Miami's standout performers so far include Josef Martinez and Drake Callender. Like Austin’s Gyasi Zardes, Martinez is one of only a handful of active players with over 100 career MLS goals, and leads his side with four on the season. Callender is a promising young goalkeeper, with his 67 saves through 18 matches ranking third-most in the league.

Possible Miami Lineup

(5-2-3, R-L) - GK: Drake Callender; Benjamin Cremaschi, Serhiy Kryvtsov, Christopher McVey, Noah Allen, Robert Taylor; David Ruiz, Dixon Arroyo; Nicolas Stefanelli, Josef Martinez, Robbie Robinson
