Austin FC has a chance to move above the playoff line as it makes the short trip north on I-35 to face in-state rivals FC Dallas on Saturday night. The match is set for a 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff at Toyota Stadium.

Austin FC Outlook
Last time out, Austin FC defeated Western Conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2-1 behind a brace from Christian Ramirez. The win made ATXFC the first team in MLS history to beat all three of the league’s Cascadia teams (Vancouver, Portland, Seattle) on the road in the same season.
More importantly, it moved the Verde & Black within a single point of the playoff line. A record of three wins, three draws, and no losses in its last six league matches put the team in the thick of the hunt for the postseason with nine games remaining. Only four teams in MLS have picked up more points in that recent span than Austin’s 12.
Every match takes on an added importance from here on in as only seven points separate seventh-place Colorado from fourteenth-place Seattle. Austin will aim at a fourth consecutive away win on Saturday night, and to extend its unbeaten streak to seven.
FC Dallas Outlook
Like Austin, Dallas enters the weekend in good form off the back of three consecutive wins. That run has moved FCD up to third place in the Western Conference, just three points back of Vancouver in first.
Striker Petar Musa continues to shine up front, with his 18 goals this season second in the league behind only Lionel Messi. He scored a pair of goals, including a 97th minute winner from the penalty spot, in Dallas’ September 5 win over SKC. JoaquÃn Valiente is the team’s primary creator with 12 assists while Logan Farrington (nine goals, five assists) has also been a key contributor to an attack which averages nearly two goals per game.
Dallas is the only team to defeat Austin in league play since August 1, a result the Verde & Black have the chance to avenge on Saturday night.
