Austin FC Outlook
The Verde & Black are looking to bounce back this Saturday following an away defeat to Houston Dynamo FC last time out. Earlier last week, Austin returned to play after the FIFA World Cup break and defeated Seattle Sounders FC at home 3-1.
This weekend’s matchup features two teams that are separated by only two points. Both are looking to climb toward the playoff places. Austin FC will aim to replicate the offensive production it had vs. Seattle. Leading goal scorer Myrto Uzuni scored the winner in that match and is someone to look out for, with five of his six goals coming in the last 10 matches.
These Western Conference squads have yet to play each other this season, however Austin got the best of this matchup last June, defeating Colorado 2-0 in Commerce City for its third all-time away win against the Rapids. Austin FC looks to jump above Colorado in the standings and to gain momentum before another pause in regular season play for Leagues Cup 2026, which begins with a match against Club Tijuana at Q2 Stadium on August 6.
Colorado Rapids Outlook
Ahead of this matchup, Colorado is coming off a 1-0 road loss to St. Louis CITY SC. The match saw an early shift, after a red card was given out to Rapids’ defender Rob Holding in the 12th minute. Colorado was able to hold their own until the 84th minute, when Tomas Ostrak broke the ice for St. Louis and scored the game winning goal.
Colorado has struggled with consistency this season, only recording consecutive wins once with victories over Portland and LA Galaxy in late February and early March. Leading goal scorer Rafael Navarro has tallied two multi-goal games but has been held to just one goal in his last seven starts.
Despite the squad’s recent struggles, the Rapids are 3-0-0 in their last three games following a loss. It will be up to Austin FC to break that trend and earn a win on the road.
