Austin FC Outlook

Austin FC is coming off its first win of the young season, a 1-0 result against D.C. United last Sunday afternoon. Austin newcomer Christian Ramirez made an immediate impact scoring the winner just 14 minutes into his debut with the club, earning himself a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday bench. He became just the second debutant to score for ATXFC, joining Guilherme Biro.

Austin now begins a two-match away stand with a trip to the East Coast to take on Charlotte on Saturday night. The two met in 2024 at Q2 Stadium resulting in a 2-2 draw. In the Verde & Black’s only previous visit to Bank of America Stadium, they defeated CLTFC 1-0 back in 2022 thanks to an incredible strike from Dani Pereira to claim all three points.

ATXFC won six road matches in 2025, the second-highest single season tally in team history. They’ll aim to surpass that mark in 2026 starting with a positive result in Charlotte this weekend.

Charlotte FC Outlook

Charlotte FC ended its 2025 regular season in 4th place in the Eastern Conference but exited in the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs against NYCFC. Manager Dean Smith returns to the touchline for his third season in charge of The Crown.

Charlotte has yet to find three points after the first two matches of the season, most recently suffering a 3-0 loss at LA Galaxy. Charlotte will look to change that this weekend for their 2026 season home opener, in front of what should be an impressive home crowd.

Charlotte will lean on Pep Biel for further offensive production, who led the team in goal contributions last year and scored their lone goal so far this season in a 1-1 draw against St. Louis. Former Premier League star Wilfried Zaha registered 10 goals and 10 assists in his first MLS season last year and is always one to keep an eye on. U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Luca de la Torre was the most significant offseason arrival after spending last season with San Diego FC.
