Austin FC Outlook

Austin FC finished up a busy month of April with three crucial points in a 2-0 victory over Texas rivals Houston Dynamo FC last Saturday night. The VERDE & Black kept their third shutout of the season while ATXFC Jayden Nelson and Myrto Uzuni each found the back of the net.

Austin will look to build on that the momentum as they look ahead to face St. Louis City SC, the penultimate home match before the FIFA World Cup break. Though ATXFC fell in the meeting between these sides at Q2 Stadium last year, it won the reverse fixture in St. Louis.

The VERDE & Black may get a big boost if any or all of Brandon Vazquez, Owen Wolff, and Dani Pereira are able to make their returns from injury in the match. Both Wolff, the team’s leader in goals and assists last season, and Vazquez have yet to feature this season.

St. Louis City SC Outlook

St. Louis had a busy week, falling in a 3-2 defeat against San Jose Earthquakes in MLS play last Saturday before winning 2-1 against Chicago in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday night to advance to the quarterfinals.

St. Louis currently sits in 14th place in the MLS Western Conference standings, with just one league win under their belt back in March against New England Revolution. The team’s current leading scorer is Designated Player Marcel Hartel, with three goals and an assist to his name thus far this season.

St. Louis have already secured two draws on the road in 2026 and will look to steal points at Q2 Stadium this weekend to spoil the party in Austin.
