Austin FC Outlook

Austin FC fell 1-0 to Houston Dynamo FC last Saturday night. Austin had the better of the chances throughout the night, and the Verde & Black almost took the lead through Alex Ringā€™s attempted bicycle kick which hit the crossbar. Ultimately, Houstonā€™s Coco Carrasquilla scored a late winning goal for the visitors.

The Verde & Black now turn their attention to Real Salt Lake and the penultimate home game of the regular season. Austin fans will fondly remember a pair of home games against RSL in 2022: one a 3-0 victory in which the team clinched a playoff berth, and the other a penalty shootout win in the teamā€™s first-ever playoff match.

The focus now is on reaching this seasonā€™s playoffs, though. ATXFC would greatly boost their chances with a win over their opponents from Utah on Saturday.

Real Salt Lake Outlook

Real Salt Lake are coming off a 3-3 draw against Portland Timbers last Saturday night, a result which clinched RSLā€™s fourth consecutive playoff berth. RSLā€™s two recent summer signings Diogo GonƧalves and Dominik Marczuk contributed to the scoreline night by each netting their first goals for the club. Although RSL dominated possession and outshot the Timbers, the two teams walked away with a point apiece.

RSL currently sit in 2nd place in Western Conference with an overall record of 14-7-9. With a playoff spot confirmed, Real Salt Lake look to finish the season strong as rivals Colorado Rapids are just one point behind in the standings.

Any team hoping to beat RSL has to stop the teamā€™s multi-pronged attack which has scored 60 goals this season, fourth most in MLS. Chicho Arango tops the charts with 17 league goals.
