Austin FC OutlookÂ
Austin returns from the international break aiming to use the final seven-match stretch of the regular season to climb into a playoff spot. Last time out, the team pulled off the largest comeback in its history, erasing a three-goal second half deficit to tie 3-3 with San Diego FC.
Brandon Vazquez netted his first goal of the season, while Christian Ramirez recorded a brace to extend the Verde & Black’s unbeaten streak to eight matches. ATXFC now prepares to face Nashville almost a year-to-the-date following the 2025 U.S. Open Cup Final. While Nashville emerged victorious that night, Austin won the last MLS meeting between the pair 2-0 in 2024.
The match against Nashville will kick off a crucial run of three games in eight days. ATXFC has a five-point gap to close in on the postseason positions.
Nashville SC Outlook
Nashville has consistently been the hottest team in MLS this season and sits comfortably at the top of the Supporters’ Shield race. They recently became the second-fastest team in league history to reach the 60-point mark, and entering the weekend they are the only team to have already clinched a playoff spot.
Prior to the break, Nashville defeated Toronto FC 2-0 at GEODIS Park to remain the only MLS team unbeaten at home this season. Hany Mukhtar scored a brace to become the 16th player in MLS history to score 100 career league goals.
Goalkeeper Joe Willis was back in the net for Nashville, marking his 184th start and 79th league shutout. Nashville owns MLS’ best defense having allowed just 21 goals.
