Austin FC Outlook

Austin FC returns to home soil after three consecutive away games in nine days. The Verde & Black will hope to build upon their history of strong performances at Q2 Stadium against Houston. In the seven previous league games played between ATXFC and the Dynamo there, Austin has a record of 5-1-1 and took a 3-1 victory in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 last season.

Copa Tejas contests typically have an extra edge to them, with annual statewide bragging rights on the line and a supporter-created trophy awarded to the Texan team that claims the most points from in-state games each season.

Saturday night begins a run of six remaining matches before the FIFA World Cup break, three at home and three away. That means 18 points are on offer to help the Verde & Black reverse their current slump and climb up the Western Conference table.

Houston Dynamo FC Outlook

Houston finds itself in the middle of the pack with a record of 4-0-4 thus far in 2026. The Dynamo enter Saturday on the back of three straight wins in all competitions and back-to-back 1-0 victories in league play. They most recently beat San Diego FC 1-0 at home on Wednesday, though starting striker Ondrej Lingr picked up a late red card and will miss the match in Austin.

Houston earned that win despite recording just 28% possession. It’s a team that prefers to let their opponent have most of the ball and strike quickly, as evidenced by their 40.9% average possession which ranks as the lowest in MLS.

Newcomer Guilherme, who arrived in the offseason from South American powerhouse Santos FC, has made an instant impact. The Brazilian has tallied five goals and four assists in his first eight MLS matches.
