After hosting three Phase One matches of Leagues Cup 2026 and advancing to the quarterfinals of the competition, Austin FC will host in-state rivals FC Dallas this Sunday night at Q2 Stadium as the team resumes MLS regular season play. The match will begin at 7:30 p.m. CT and feature as a Sunday Night Soccer broadcast on Apple TV.

Austin FC made a statement at Q2 Stadium on Thursday night as the Verde & Black earned a win in penalties over Club América after a hard-fought battle. América opened the scoring in the 48th minute from an own goal before Myrto Uzuni equalized with a spectacular strike to tie the game at 1-1 with his fourth goal of the tournament. The match would then head to penalties where Brad Stuver came up with a game-clinching save for Austin. The team has now won all three penalty shootouts in which it has taken part in Club history.
The result earned the Verde & Black a spot in the quarterfinals of Leagues Cup 2026 after they tallied eight points with a 2-0-1 record in Phase One. They will now face off against Toluca FC of Liga MX in two weeks’ time but will first return their focus to league play as they continue their hunt for a bid in this year’s MLS Cup Playoffs, beginning on Sunday against Dallas.
The squad will look to build off recent momentum from its Leagues Cup performances and defeat a Dallas team with whom they have had heated encounters in the past. Uzuni has been in excellent form since returning from the FIFA World Cup break with five goals and an assist in six matches, including a hat trick against Puebla.
FC Dallas Outlook
FC Dallas will resume MLS regular season play in Austin after failing to qualify for the knockout stage of Leagues Cup 2026. Dallas won two of their group stage matches, but it was their loss to Toluca in their third match that held them back from advancing.
Dallas’ squad has performed steadily in the league this season and currently sits in the playoff positions at sixth place in the Western Conference. They are tied with Real Salt Lake with 27 points and hold a record of 7-6-5. Dallas has been strong on its travels this season, picking up 14 points from nine away games - good for fourth-most in MLS.
Forward Peter Musa, who represented his native Croatia at the FIFA World Cup, is tied for the league lead in scoring with 13 alongside Nicolás Fernández of New York City FC and Hugo Cuypers. Musa recorded a hat trick in a 3-3 draw against San Diego in March. The squad will continue to rely on his offensive brilliance in the finals months before the postseason begins.
