Canada Soccer today announced its final 26-player roster for FIFA World Cup 2026™, with Austin FC winger Jayden Nelson selected to the team. Nelson becomes the first active Austin FC player to represent the Club at a World Cup.
Nelson, who joined the Verde & Black prior to the start of the 2026 MLS season, has two (2) goals in six (6) starts to date for the Club. At the senior international level, Nelson has made 14 previous appearances for Canada and scored three (3) goals, including a goal in Canada’s pre-World Cup friendly win over Uzbekistan on June 1.
Canada was drawn into Group B at the official FIFA World Cup 2026™ draw in Washington last
December, alongside Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar, and Switzerland, with matches scheduled for June 12 at BMO Field in Toronto, June 18 at BC Place in Vancouver, and June 24 at BC Place in Vancouver.
Canada’s June 12 match against Bosnia and Herzegovina will be 1 of 4 shown on a large outdoor screen at the Austin Soccer Celebration at Auditorium Shores in downtown Austin. The event will feature food and beverage offerings, beer garden-style spaces, and a high-energy, family-friendly atmosphere. Admission is free with registration required.
