Austin FC midfielder and Designated Player Sebastián Driussi was named to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Week for the fourth-consecutive week and a league-high 11th time overall this season following his performance in Austin’s 4-3 win over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night at Q2 Stadium.
Driussi scored his league-leading 17th goal of the season against SKC on Saturday, completing a comeback as the Verde & Black overcame a 3-1 deficit to win 4-3. The Argentine recorded the team’s final goal in the 94th-minute, finishing with a low shot from inside the box to seal victory for Austin.
Driussi also leads MLS in goal contributions with 24, and has contributed to a goal in each of Austin FC’s last eight (8) matches (the joint-longest such streak in the league this season), tallying eight (8) goals and three (3) assists in that span.
The team’s goals-per-match average has more than doubled since Driussi joined Austin FC last August, rising from 0.81 to 1.76. Driussi's performances this season earned a selection to the MLS All-Star Team, and saw him named MLS Player of the Month twice.
