Austin FC announced today that the Club agreed to loan forward CJ Fodrey to Falkirk FC of the Scottish Premiership through June 2027. The loan agreement includes a recall option for Austin in January 2027 and does not include a purchase option.
“CJ is a talented young player and the best thing for him at this stage in his development is to be in a position to earn consistent, high-level minutes,” said Austin FC Interim Head Coach Davy Arnaud. “We feel this move to the Scottish Premiership will help him to do exactly that, and CJ expressed to us that he is excited to test himself in Scotland.”
Austin FC selected Fodrey in the first round of the 2023 MLS SuperDraft with the 13th overall pick. He has gone on to total 53 MLS appearances for Austin and scored the latest goal in Club history, netting the game winner in the 120th minute of Austin's U.S. Open Cup Semifinal match against Minnesota in September 2025.
In his first season with the Club, Fodrey contributed to Austin FC II’s MLS NEXT Pro title-winning campaign with four goals and two assists in 22 matches
