Austin FC began the 2026 Major League Soccer season with a 2-2 draw against Minnesota United FC on Saturday night at Q2 Stadium. The match attendance of 20,738 marked the Club’s 89th consecutive MLS home sellout, extending the league’s longest active streak.
It took Facundo Torres, who arrived as a Designated Player signing in the offseason, just seven (7) minutes to record his first goal contribution in Verde. The Uruguayan international sent in an excellent corner kick which Brendan Hines-Ike headed home for an early lead.
Minnesota leveled the game before halftime with a set piece of their own, despite two (2) high-quality saves by Brad Stuver. It was then Loons goalkeeper Drake Callender’s turn to make a pair of stops to deny good efforts from Torres and Jon Gallagher at the start of the second half.
Gallagher was involved in ATXFC’s second goal later on, setting up Myrto Uzuni for a close-range finish in the 76th minute. Minnesota equalized again in the 90th minute though to ensure the sides split the points.
