Austin FC Defeats Seattle in Road Victory

report

Second half strikes from Facundo Torres and Guilherme Biro spurred Austin FC to a 2-1 away victory over Seattle Sounders FC on Wednesday night at Lumen Field, the team’s third win in its last five matches in all competitions.

The Verde & Black maintained control of the first half, dominating possession and nearly opening the scoring when Jorge Alastuey launched a shot off the right post.

Seattle turned up the heat in the second half but Damian Las, who made his MLS debut between the posts for Austin on the night, made two massive saves to keep the hosts off the board. Austin then opened the scoring when Torres smoothly tucked away Žan Kolmanič's low cross into the box in the 66th minute.

Biro doubled the lead in the 87th, and while Seattle answered quickly to halve the deficit, ATXFC held on to claim all three points. Las finished his debut with six total saves.
