Austin FC announced today that the Club agreed to a new contract with forward Christian Ramirez. Ramirez, the Club’s top scorer in MLS play this season, signed a deal guaranteed through the end of the 2027-28 season.
“At the start of this season, I didn’t know where I’d be playing. Looking back on it now, Austin FC was the perfect place for me to land,” said Ramirez. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to come in and make an impact both on and off the pitch. I know there are big things ahead for the Club. It’s an amazing organization with amazing people and fans. I’m happy that my family and I will be staying in Austin.”
Ramirez joined Austin FC in February 2026 and hit the ground running, scoring the winning goal in his first match against D.C. United and in doing so becoming just the second ATXFC player to score on their debut in Club history. He has since tallied a team-high nine goals in the regular season and ranks third on the team in goal contributions with 11 in 25 appearances (14 starts). He recorded a brace in Austin’s 2-1 win at Vancouver on September 13 and in a 3-3 draw vs. San Diego on September 26.
“Christian has earned this new contract through his performances and the qualities he brings to our group every day,” said Austin FC Chief Soccer Officer Khaled El-Ahmad. “He scores important goals, leads by example and brings the professionalism and character we want at Austin FC. We’re pleased to keep him here, and we believe he has an important role to play as we strengthen the team and raise our standards.”
Ramirez, a former MLS Cup, Supporters’ Shield, and Leagues Cup winner, is now a nine-year veteran of MLS. He has totaled 68 goals and 23 assists during his time in the league. Ramirez will occupy a Senior roster slot on the Austin FC roster beginning in the 2027 MLS Sprint Season.
