Austin FC Academy Teams Impress in October Matches


After an excellent start in September, the Austin FC Academy hit its stride in October, posting a number of impressive results to take strong early positions in the 2022-2023 MLS NEXT standings.

October Results

Austin FC’s four Academy teams competing in MLS NEXT all performed well throughout October, with a combined record of 13-3-3 during September. The U-14 and U-17 sides remain unbeaten. The U-14s won all three of their home matches last month by multiple goals, and earned four points from a tricky two-match road trip to Colorado.

The U-17s also recorded a memorable away result, beating Minnesota 3-0 on the road and winning a pair of home games to take top spot in the Central (South) Division.

The U-15 team notched the biggest victory of October, defeating San Antonio FC 6-1 at home. All four squads ended the month on a high note with a quartet of victories over Houston on the same weekend.

U-13 (6-1-0 overall)

Player of the Month

Luke Hawley, U-14 Forward

Hawley missed September’s action with a hip injury but supported the team throughout as he recovered, impressing the Academy coaching staff with his leadership on and off the field, his professionalism, and his work ethic.

Hawley returned to action this month and made an immediate impact. He scored twice in a comeback away victory over Colorado Rapids, including netting a last-minute winner, and scored another brace against Houston in a 3-1 win.
