U.S. Soccer announced that Austin FC Academy midfielder Micah Burton was called up to the United States U-17 Men’s Youth National Team for the UEFA Development Tournament, taking place from May 1 to May 10 in Castelo Branco, Portugal. The call-up is Burton’s fourth to a U.S. U-17 MYNT roster under Head Coach Gonzalo Segares.

“Micah’s continued involvement with the U.S. U-17 MYNT is a testament to his hard work and dedication,” said Austin FC Academy General Manager Tyson Wahl. “We’re very proud to see him represent both his country and Austin FC against elite competition in Europe next month.”

During his last call-up in March, Burton registered a game-winning goal and an assist in U.S. U-17 friendlies against Uruguay and Argentina respectively. He also scored in the Austin FC U-17’s Generation adidas Cup opener on April 10 against Mexican club Santos Laguna, and was named the tournament’s Player of the Day for his performance.

Burton is the third Austin FC Academy player called up to a U.S. Men’s Youth National Team this month, following Ervin Torres’ call-up to the U-15 team and Bryan Arellano’s call-up to the U-19 team.

“Having Austin FC Academy players within U-15, U-17, and U-19 national team camps demonstrates the progress we have made and showcases the opportunities that exist within Austin FC,” said Wahl.
